Theme of the Conference
The theme of the conference is “Strengthening UN Peacekeeping Missions through Training.” It is meant to bring together peacekeeping training professionals from the region to enhance cooperation between peacekeeping training centres to address changing UN mission requirements.
The Objectives/Goals of the Conference
During the conference, Training Centre Commandants and Lead Instructors will discuss commonalities between centers as they prepare their contingents to serve together on UN mission.
Subsequently, two groups will be formed, consisting of Center Commandants in one group and Lead Instructors in another. The groups will also have a facilitator who will moderate the discussion of topics, including
- Discuss new mission mandates and how this effects preparation of contingents.
- Develop a network between the peacekeeping centres to refine identified areas of cooperation to enhance (and improve) the scope (and standard) of training and preparation.
- Potential areas of cooperation, mutual support and exchange programme.
- Sharing of training best practices.
The Conference is co-sponsored by the Armed Forces of Malaysia and US Pacific Command Multinational Training Branch (J716). Once confirmed to attend, USPACOM J716 will arrange lodging and support for participants arriving at Kuala Lumpur. Uniform for the conference will be normal office uniform and for civilian participants business suit and tie for the first day, otherwise collared shirt and slacks for remainder of meeting programme.
